New Site

My mom has decided to dole out investment advice and offered the rest of her family to the business of whatever their specialty.  Her site was launched, managed, and designed by me here
This theme has a customizable header, I'm open to criticism if the picture should have lined up with the left column, but I stopped caring.

This is hosted through hostgator, which I found out is run on windpower so I'm all about supporting them with their super easy wordpress installation.  The domain is bought through godaddy, which I'm slightly opposed to but that's fine.

Anyway I wish my mom the best of luck.

Members only pages

Today the members only page for the NRBS went live.  They are going to be making powerpoints and presentation videos available online for members only.

With any luck I'm going to be making it possible for people to buy the items one by one instead of buying a membership and getting a password that can be circulated.  I'd post it here but its members only haha.

I've done a paypal with an instant redirect before to a wallpaper page, but I think it is going to be harder with videos.  That's my next project, unless NRBS decides that they like the current set up of a single password protected page.  I don't know, it's all a bit complicated, it may come down to paypal page and the instant link to megaupload.  The problem is that material simply gets circulated, that is the nature of the internet and the way things work today.  Making things available online is a novel idea, but securing it to make sure one person gets all the money, somewhat of an impossible feat.  Anyway password protected pages on public websites, check on my resume.

The wordpress and paypal issue

A common problem that I have encountered when coding wordpress and small businesses is that paypal html codes get stripped in wordpress CMS.  This seems silly because wordpress.com and woordpress.org are some of the ways that small businesses choose to operate.  Luckily I thought my fix was somewhat elegant when it came to coding the page for membership for NRBS.org.

Use the email link code that is given as an option for paypal merchant services when creating a button.  A step by step guide is here
http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
I was very blessed to find this guide and I think that the way it turned out on the page was very good.  Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough to know how to code a drop down menu like the button in paypal, but I think this is a fair solution.

I hope this is helpful to any coders out there!

NRBS redesign is live!

Check it out! The redesign and upkeep of the new NRBS.org is live!

If anyone has questions about the paypal links, it is the easiest solution that I see for drop down menus.  It's a bit time consuming but I think it looks pretty good.

I'm currently waiting on the approved images that I can use to spruce up the site and the media content (power points and talk videos) that I'll be posting in their members section.
